The new LG G Watch R teaser
LG has shown off its upcoming round-faced Android Wear watch, dubbed the LG G Watch R, in a new teaser image.
Posting the above teaser image to Facebook (which we’ve brightened so you can see more of the watch with Photoshop), you can clearly see the round-faced G Watch R in all its glory.
“The first wearable to fully utilise its circular shape. Meet #LG’s newest wearable at IFA 2014 from September 5 -10”, reads the Facebook teaser picture caption.
LG previously confirmed its new wearable would launch at IFA 2014 in Berlin next week in a teaser trailer over the weekend. It only offered brief glimpse of the smartwatch and its “perfect circle” selling point, but it gave us a good idea as to what to expect.
Well, apart from specs that is. Unless it offers similar specs to its square-faced brother, we have no idea what to expect with the G Watch R.
The LG G Watch R will arrive just two months after the launch of the original square-faced LG G Watch, which didn’t exactly get rave reviews from the tech community.
Now it looks like LG has adopted a similar approach to Android Wear devices as rival Motorola, which is primed to launch the Motorola Moto 360 hopefully in the next few weeks.
We could see quite a few wearable devices launch at IFA next week, with the Asus ZenWatch also confirmed for an IFA appearance.
The original LG G Watch comes with a 1.65-inch IPS LCD display running on a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 512MB of RAM. It has 4GB of internal storage and is IP67 water and dust resistant.
Powered by a 400mAh battery, LG claimed it offered a 36 hour battery life. We just managed to scrape a full 24 hour out of it, so perhaps the G Watch R will have a slightly larger battery.
