The new Casio EX FR10 is after GoPro's crown
Casio has pulled the wrappers off of its new action cam, which is aiming to take on the likes of GoPro with a unique design.
The Casio EX-FR10 has a detachable lens, meaning you can stick it onto a helmet, jacket or bike, while using the separate viewfinder to take and frame shots or video. The two can be snapped together and used as one unit too.
It packs in a f2.8 lens and can record full 1080p HD video as well as reeling off 14 megapixel stills. Use it to film your outdoor exploits and it will keep on kicking for 75 minutes, which should be more than ample for cobbling together a short film of your day in the hills or out at sea.
Each part can withstand dust and water and are IPX6 certified. You can shoot pics using the viewfinder up to ten metres away from the lens, although Casio recommends you stay within five metres in order to ensure your snaps stay sharp.
White, green and orange options are up for grabs, with the price coming in at 50,000 Yen in Japan, where it’s due to launch first. That works out at a rather hefty £290. There is no word yet on final UK pricing.
