A claimed picture of the iPad Air 2's rear cover has been leaked onto the internet, revealing a number of minor alterations.
Few are expecting massive changes from the follow-up to last year's dramatically overhauled iPad Air. Sure enough, a recently leaked snap of the rear cover appears to reveal some minor design tweaks.
The above image was posted on Chinese social network Weibo recently, where it was picked up by 9to5Mac.
The image appears to show the rear cover component of an as yet unseen iPad device. It's reminiscent of the original iPad Air, but it confirms a number of notable differences we've seen mentioned in previous reports.
For example, the speaker grille is now a single line of holes along the bottom rear edge of the device. The volume controls, meanwhile, appear to be recessed.
Finally, there appears to be a microphone positioned next to the rear camera, similar to the positioning on recent iPhone models like the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
It's all looking rather similar to what's gone before, though other recent reports suggest that the iPad Air 2 will be slightly slimmer than the iPad Air. With the current model an already svelte 7.5mm thin, the next iteration is said to be as slim as 6.2mm.
Other design changes should see the next full-sized iPad featuring the Touch ID fingerprint scanner from the iPhone 5S.
Expect to see the iPad Air 2 making an official showing later in the year.
