Another Xbox One price cut at GamesCom?

A new rumour suggests another Xbox One price cut will be announced at GamesCom.

Although the first official Xbox One price cut was announced in February, it looks like another is on the cards for later this month.

One eagle-eyed NeoGAF user spotted a lower than expected €349.99 Xbox One price tag on the mobile version of the Spanish official Xbox site.

Currently the Xbox One retails for €399.99 in Europe or £399.99 in the UK, but it looks like Microsoft is planning to slash that figure again by a hefty €50.

That would make Microsoft’s latest console the same price as the PS4, which launched at £349.99 and has remained at since.

If this mobile listing is correct, we could see Microsoft announce the fresh Xbox One price cut at GamesCom. The electronics giant has a media briefing scheduled for August 12, which would make the perfect platform for announcing such a major price cut.

So far, Microsoft has confirmed it will showcase the first Quantum Break gameplay footage and no doubt we’ll see more from Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2 and the other major titles coming to the Xbox One in the near future.

IF Microsoft is preparing to announced another official Xbox One price cut, it’s a rather large indicator that the console isn’t performing as well as expected.

The company has already tried removing the Kinect from the box, offering it as a secondary purchases instead for those looking for a cheaper entry point.

That was thought to have really helped Xbox One sales in the past couple of months, with Microsoft saying as much at several press events.

“Our momentum has really improved in the past weeks and months and we’re obviously really happy about that,” said Harvey Eagle, Xbox Marketing Director. “And by momentum I mean sales”.

We’ll have to see if Microsoft is having to cut the Xbox One price again next week during GamesCom.
