Samsung Galaxy S4 outsold HTC One 4-to-1

Last year’s Samsung Galaxy S4 outsold the HTC One by a ratio of 4-to-1, newly emerged figures have revealed.

Despite the HTC One having widely been regarding as the best phone of 2013, an accolade recognised in becoming the 2013 TrustedReviews Phone of the Year, Samsung’s better brand standing and monstrous marketing budget saw the Galaxy S4 dominate consumer sales.

According to figures presented to Bloomberg, HTC confirmed that HTC One sales during the phone’s opening two month’s on sale reached the impressive 5 million units milestone.

During the same period, Samsung revealed that Samsung Galaxy S4 sales exceeded a staggering 20 million units.

Although the HTC One marked the Taiwanese manufacturer’s return to smartphone prominence, the S4’s sales are sure to have been bolstered by the preceding success of both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and older Samsung Galaxy S2.

Following last year’s dominance by Samsung, the two manufacturers are once again duelling it out in the smartphone space.

In recent weeks both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 have hit UK markets.

Although the HTC One M8 has again been deemed by much of the industry to have edged the smartphone race, recent reports from retailers have hinted that early Samsung Galaxy S5 sales are even higher than for the S4.
