Samsung Galaxy S4 Android KitKat update rolls out in UK

The Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 Android KitKat update has started rolling out in the UK.

If you own a Galaxy S4 or Samsung Galaxy Note 3, you’ll soon be able to upgrade your OS to Google’s latest Android 4.4 KitKat.

The update is currently rolling out to unlocked UK versions of the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, but users with carrier variants are starting to see the update option appear on their device too.

Update install file sizes range from 300 – 400MB and users will benefit from several changes when making the move to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Mostly the update will bring subtle visual tweaks to your S4 and Note 3 more than a full blown UI change, including translucent notification bars, cleaner and leaner text and white notification bar icons.

You will benefit from new Android KitKat features like immersive mode, cloud printing support, lock screen album art, music interface changes, new emojis and Daydream Mode.

Of course, most of the changes will occur beneath the heavy Samsung Touchwiz UI.

If you’re not seeing the update available on your device as yet, updates do tend to take time to reach all the UK network providers.

You can try a manual update though the Samsung Kies desktop software if you want KitKat particularly urgently.

Let us know if you’ve received the update and have noticed any other tweaks to your Galaxy S4 or Note 3.
