The Xbox One is now available for as much as the PS4
Yet another Xbox One price cut has been introduced, with retailer Maplin now offering the next-gen console for just £349.
With the console having launched last November with a premium £429 price tag, a number of Xbox One price cuts have been introduced in recent weeks as retailers and Microsoft alike look to stem strong sales of Sony’s rival PS4 console.
Maplin’s deal is the first time the Xbox One has been reduced to cost the same as the PS4.
Representing an £80 saving over the console’s original price, the Maplin Xbox One price cut sees the £349.99 fee secure eager gamers Microsoft’s next-gen console with 500GB of internal storage. As an added bonus, the cut-price console comes with free delivery.
For those after something to play, the retailer is also offering an Xbox One bundle deal with the console coming with a copy of FIFA 14 for just £379.99.
Although the deal marks a major saving, the £349 Xbox One offer is currently listed as out of stock. What’s more, the retailer has yet to state if these deals are a limited time promotion or its new standard fees.
While a number of retailers had already offered discounts, last month Microsoft announced the first official Xbox One price cut. As of February 28 the console’s retail price was dropped to £399, still £50 more than the PS4.
“The reason we’re doing this is that we’re committed to giving gamers the best value we can”, Harvey Eagle, Xbox UK’s marketing director said of the price drop.
“We’re only a few months into a generation of consoles that are going to last for many many years to come. And now just feels like the right time to make the adjustment on the price.”
