The Xbox One Twitch game broadcasting feature will arrive within the March software update.
Microsoft is seemingly adding Twitch game broadcasting to the Xbox One with the next update, just in time for the Titanfall launch on March 14 in the UK.
According to a report by the Associated Press, Twitch will bring game broadcasting and other new features to the Xbox One next month.
The Xbox One Twitch update will allow gamers to initiate broadcast using Kinect voice commands, archive game streams and view/broadcast streams from any console.
“It’s complete integration. It’s exciting because we’ve never had the ability to broadcast from a console like this with such a deep level of integration,” said Emmett Shear, co-founder and CEO at Twitch. “The concept of being able to join a broadcasters’ party is really cool, and it’s another step in the direction of interacting more closely with broadcasters.”
The PS4 Twitch experience was created by Sony rather than Twitch itself and only allows its gamers to share and view content created by other PS4 users.
The Xbox One version will be a lot more open and accessible than that offered on the PS4.
“This will open up the social aspect of Xbox One in a new way,” said Yusuf Mehdi, VP of Marketing and Strategy for Xbox. “The community of Twitch is huge, and this allows us to tap into that and frankly do something that’s never been done before on consoles.”
“You’ll be able to broadcast to any device and consume anyone’s broadcast from any device. It’s a console experience unique to the Xbox One.”
The Twitch service has over 1 million live broadcasters and 45 million monthly viewers.
