LG G3 release could be brought forward, company hints

LG's rear keys are heading for a return

Following last summer’s LG G2 launch, the Korean manufacturer has hinted that the LG G3 release date could be moved forward in order to give the handset better traction.

With the LG G2 having been formally unveiled in mid-August ahead of an October 1 UK release, LG has suggested that its future flagship phone will land earlier in the year.

This year we have learned our lessons and will introduce products at a time that will give us clear space to ensure that we have a good opportunity to raise our profile,” Shaun Musgrave, LG’s UK Product Marketing Manager said speaking with TrustedReviews.

Pressed for further clarification, Murgrave added that the company’s next flagship phone would land “potentially earlier.”

Although failing to mention the G3 by name, the LG spokesperson added: “Obviously we had G2 within that mix. I think this year we will try to deliver things a bit earlier if we can to give us clear space to try and raise our profile.

“The cycle is probably around September time when the iPhone comes and Nokia tend to announce their products and obviously if there is a Nexus device it tends to be announced around that timeframe.”

Despite the Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5 having been officially unveiled last night and the HTC One 2 widely expected to be unveiled during the Taiwanese manufacturer’s March 25 launch event, LG does not look set to unveil the G3 this quarter.

In a relatively low key showing at MWC 2014, LG showcased the 4.7-inch LG G2 Mini and phablet-sized LG G Pro 2.
