Samsung NX mini leaks

Specs and a press image of a new ultra-compact addition to the Samsung NX mirror less camera range have leaked onto the internet.

According to NXrumours, this is the Samsung NX mini. It sports a 1-inch back-illuminated 20-megapixel image sensor that appears to be the same as that of the Sony RX100 II, which certainly bodes well.

Rather than that compact camera champ’s fixed lens, however, the NX mini features a brand new (and suitably teeny-tiny) interchangeable lens system. This will include a 9mm lens and a 9-27mm zoom lens bundled in.

As you can see from the picture, Samsung has also managed to squeeze in a full 3-inch flippable LCD display, as well as a flash. All of this is packed into a body that’s less than 35mm thick.

Despite its pocket dimensions, the Samsung NX mini will be capable of 22fps continuous shooting, with a maximum shutter speed of 1/16000s and ISO 160-12800.

Apparently, the Samsung NX mini will be officially unveiled in a matter of weeks. No price information has been forthcoming, but we imagine it will be in the region of the aforementioned Sony RX100 II, which debuted at £650.

Samsung has been attempting to bridge the gap between smartphone and dedicated cameras for some time now, with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Samsung Galaxy NX standing for either side of the divide.

Could the Samsung NX mini represent the sweet spot in the middle? Watch this space for more as we hear it.
