Maiden Audio

Onkyo has partnered with British heavy-metal gods Iron Maiden to launch Maiden Audio.

We're told the first product from this fledgling brand will be headphones, although we don't yet know whether there will be multiple models or what form they'll take.

However, a representative for Onkyo claims this 'will be anything but a re-badging exercise.' That makes sense, since Onkyo's usual style is classy and understated – not exactly what you'd expect from the big-haired metallers.

We're predicting cases shaped like the face of the band's mascot, Eddie, and cables covered in Bruce Dickinson's braided hair. Also leopard-print Spandex around the headband.

Maybe not, but the likelihood is that they'll be mid-priced on-ear or over-ear headphones, possibly followed up by a wireless speaker. Probably named after Iron Maiden's trademark gentle ballads, such as Number of the Beast, Sea of Madness, Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter...
