While the world’s most renowned smartphone makers continue to work towards longer battery life, one little-known manufacturer is stepping up to the plate with a bold pledge.
Blu, a company based in Miami, Florida, says its new Studio Energy Android phone can run for four days from a single charge.
Announced at CES 2015 (via Gigaom), the Android KitKat handset has a 5000mAh battery crammed within a 10mm-thin chassis, which claims to offer 52 hours of talk time and a whopping 45 days of standby time.
The 5-inch handset , which will set folks back a mere $179 (around £112) when it launches at the end of January, has a 720p (249ppi) display covered in Corning Gorilla Glass.
However, that’s about as impressive as the specs get for this mid-ranger. There’s an unspecified 1.3GHz quad-core processor, HSPA+ 3G internet rather than 4G LTE and 1GB of RAM.
There’s 8mp/2mp cameras, 8GB of built-in storage (which can be supplemented with 64GB through the micro SD slot), while there’s also Dual-SIM functionality making it a decent option for travellers.

The Studio Energy will go on sale from Amazon in the United States in Black, White and Gold at the end of the month.
In terms of competition from the bigger hitters, Sony launched the Xperia Z3 late last year, which promised two full days of battery life on a single charge, although its processing specs and display tech far eclipse those sitting within the Studio Energy.
