Sony has said EA Access doesn’t offer good value for PlayStation gamers and will not be coming to the PS4.
Earlier today, EA announced that Xbox One gamers could now subscribe to its new EA Access program offering them access to a collection of titles for a monthly fee.
Some gamers were puzzled as to why EA Games would offer the service as an Xbox One exclusive. Now it seems Sony turned down the offer for the PS4.
“We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect”, said Sony in a statement.
“PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200 per cent since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price. We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 per month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.”
EA Access costs £3.99 per month and offers you access to The Vault. Basically you can binge on EA Games titles for one price, starting with Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Peggle 2 beta.
Plus you’ll get 10 per cent off EA digital purchases for the Xbox One on select titles such as Need for Speed Rivals or Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare.
EA Access members will also get EA games five days before they are released to play for free for a limited time. This applies to upcoming games like Dragon Age: Inquisition, and if you love it you can buy it in full and continue playing.
