Vizio launches 50-inch 4K TV for $999

Vizio has launched its new 4K TV P Series line-up, with prices starting at $999.99 for a 50-inch display.

The American TV company has just launched its first consumer grade 4K TVs at CES 2014, which will be the most affordable line of 4K TVs yet.

With sizes ranging between 50- and 70-inches, the prices for Vizio P Series will start at an ultra-low $999.99 and will go up to $2,599.99 for a 70-inch panel.

Vizio’s series is the most affordable 4K options ever and actually offer a high-quality picture. Polaroid also launched a $999 4K TV, but the picture quality was certainly lacking.

The Vizio 4K TVs offer vibrant, sharp and incredibly detailed panels with backlights that consist of 64 active LED zones and advanced local dimming.

Unfortunately the Vizio 4K TV series won’t ever come to the UK, but the company has proved that affordable 4K TVs are possible and aren’t far away.

If you look at the 4K TVs that will launch in the UK, you’re looking at prices of at least £3000. Sharp’s “affordable” Aquos 4K Ultra HD TV series start at $4,999 (£3050) for a 60-inch panel, while the super impressive 105-inch curved 4K beast from LG will set you back a staggering $70,000 give or take a couple of hundred quid.

Hopefully Vizio’s P Series is a sign of more affordable 4K TVs to come our way, and we couldn’t be more excited.
