Sony Xperia i1 press shots leak

Pictures of the Sony Xperia i1 have surfaced online again, but this time in the form of some official looking press shots.

The images have reportedly come from an Xperia i1 Honami system dump and show the 20-megapixel camera smartphone only from the front.

From the shots we can see that the Sony Xperia i1 features the same black finish with aluminium edging seen in yesterday’s Xperia i1 leaked pictures.

The press images show the device with the branding of NTT Docomo, the Japanese network provider plastered on it, as well as running Google Maps.

From the leaked Xperia i1 images that have emerged so far, the smartphone looks to retain the design cues introduced by the Sony Xperia Z, Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia Z Ultra.

However, it will be the first in the Xperia line to feature a 20-megapixel rear snapper. This could be Sony’s attempt to rival the camera-centric offerings of rival smartphone manufacturers like the heavily rumoured Nokia Lumia 1020 and the recently revealed Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.

Sony’s camera smartphone spectacular is tipped to pack a 20-megapixel camera capable of recording 4K Ultra HD video, equivalent to a 4000 x 2000 pixel resolution.

It is rumoured to have a Sony 1/1.6 Exmor RS stacked sensor with a Xenon flash and Cybershot G lens.

Rather than the huge 6.44-inch screen of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, the Xperoa i1 is said to have a more manageable 5-inch Full 1080p HD display.

It should pakc a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM, powered by a battery somewhere between the 2,700mAh and 3,000mAh range.

The Sony Xperia i1 is strongly rumoured for an IFA conference launch in early September, and with the speed and intensity of the incoming leaks that seems to be a very probable launch date.
