Sony has confirmed which of its Xperia devices will be getting the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in the near future.

The recently unveiled Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is coming to selected Sony Xperia devices soon, according to the Japanese manufacturer.

Although Sony fails to give any specific Android 4.3 upgrade date within the official blog post, it can confirm the new Google mobile OS will be released for the Xperia Z , Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia SP.

The newly announced Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet will also be getting Android 4.3, as will the Xperia Tablet Z.

All of the above handsets will get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in the near future, gaining features like the new Restricted Profiles, OpenGL ES 3.0 graphics technology and Bluetooth LE support.

The Sony Xperia devices will join the Google Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 which can already download the latest version of the Android OS.

Sony also confirms that the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software rollouts are well underway for the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL already, with the Xperia XR and Xperia Tablet Z to expect the 4.2 update in early August.

This may well mean Sony Xperia owners could be in for a bit of a wait for Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, if some of the devices haven’t received Android 4.2 yet.

However, the Japanese electronics manufacturer does suggest it is looking at “uplifting some of our other devices running 4.1 direct to 4.3”, but isn’t able to give any more information on the matter.

It does suggest that Xperia device owners follow its @SonyMobileNews account on Twitter to get all the latest information on any Jelly Bean updates arriving on its smartphone and tablet range.
