Samsung's first developer's conference coming in October

Samsung has announced plans for a developer conference in October this year, further emphasising its determination to distinguish itself from other Android manufacturers and perhaps even Google itself.

The "cross platform" San Francisco event will focus on software and applications made exclusively for Samsung's Android and Windows devices.

A teaser email sent out on Tuesday offers devs the chance to "engage with industry leaders, collaborate with fellow developers, learn about new Samsung tools and SDKs and create what's next."

The move could increase tensions between Samsung and Google, which have risen as the Korean company continues to cement its position as the dominant Android manufacturer.

Google apparently has concerns that Samsung could begin using its position to push Google around and take a greater say in the future of the Android OS.

The recent launch of the Google Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4, which ran the pure Nexus version of Android Jelly Bean was thought of as the pair coming together in support of the Android OS.

However it may have simply been a token gesture from Samsung to placate Google as it continues to plot its own course using the Android ship as a vessel for its in-house TouchWiz OS and suite of exclusive apps.

The company's developer conference will run from October 27-29 this year, with developers encouraged to register their interest now.

Reports also suggest that Samsung's in-development Tizen mobile OS will also make an appearance at the event.
