GTA 5 PC release petition nears 300,000 signature target

A petition looking to convince publisher Rockstar to release a GTA 5 PC edition is edging closer to its target of 300,000 signatures.

With the eagerly awaited GTA 5 release currently confirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms only, PC gamers who felt left out in the cold have created a petition , with more than 225,000 having already signed the virtual document. Despite the Xbox One and PS4 being set to hit retailers later this year, Rockstar has failed to confirm its hotly anticipated title for the next-gen consoles.

Having originally launched back in November, the petition plodded to the 200,000 signatures milestone earlier this month, before storming on towards its finishing target of 300,000. At the time of writing, there are just shy of 230,000 signatures.

Addressed to Rockstar Games, the petition reads: “Please release GTA V on PC. GTA games have been a large part of so many people's lives and it's a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform. Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have.

“I hope you consider the release of GTA V on PC as it'll make many people very happy!”

A GTA 5 release date has been confirmed for September 17 in the UK and US after the game was delayed well beyond its original ‘spring 2013’ billing.

Earlier this month a Rockstar job listing suggested the gaming giant was plotting a GTA 5 PC release, with a Graphic Programmer sought to bring its ‘latest titles’ to PC.

The job listing, which was hastily withdrawn after it fell into the mitts of the press read: “Rockstar Leeds are currently looking for a talented graphics programmer to help bring our latest titles to the PC platform.

“Working together with the other Rockstar studios, you will be responsible for maintaining the studio’s uncompromising quality bar, delivering the highest quality PC experience possible.”
