Purported leaked shot of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime

As a result of the selfie craze, front-facing smartphone cameras have been catching up to their rear-facing brethren.

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, earlier this month, with a 3.7-megapixel front snapper and a host of new ‘selfie’ photo modes, was further evidence of this trend.

Now the company looks set to invest more stock into the selfie cam arena by launching a smartphone with a 5-megapixel sensor.

According to leaked photos and accompanying reports from Vietnam, the as-yet-unofficial Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime will be the the first to rock the improved sensor tech, pushing the camera up from the 2-megapixels featured within the Galaxy Grand 2.

Elsewhere, according to the leak, the device will have an 8-megapixel rear camera that shoots 1080p video and a 5-inch qHD display. The report also claimed the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 400 chipset, boast just 1GB of RAM and run the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat .

It’s also pegged as having 8GB of built in storage (expandable via a microSD card), dual-SIM functionality and 3G connectivity.

The Galaxy Grand Prime is expected to launch in Vietnam next month, but there’s no word on a potential western release as yet.
