Is this the Sony Xperia Z3?
We might just have been offered our first glimpse of Sony’s next flagship phone, as a claimed image of the Sony Xperia Z3 surfaces online.
In true spy shot fashion, the claimed Sony Xperia Z3 image is blurry and out of focus, offering little insight into the device other than a thin bezeled design only marginally changed from the existing Sony Xperia Z2.
The teased handset looks slightly narrower than the 5.2-inch Sony Xperia Z2, suggesting the Z3 could be in for yet another change in screen size.
Having appeared on Digi-wo, the Sony phone leak also reportedly shows the Xperia Z3 alongside its smaller sibling, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact.
With no Z2 Compact having yet been announced, Sony could be overlooking a sub-sized spinoff to its existing Z2 in order to focus on future devices.
Although the latest teases have offered no insight into the new device’s specs sheet, recent Z3 rumours have claimed that the handset will be powered by a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor alongside 3GB of RAM.
Given Sony’s recent trend for twice-annual flagship phone releases, we expect the Xperia Z3 to touch down later this year.
Although an August arrival has been mooted, we believe it is far more likely that the phone will take a bow during IFA 2014 this September, an event also expected to see the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
