A video showing the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 Active being benchmarked has hit the web, revealing some interesting information on the rugged device’s specifications.
It’s been rumoured for a while that Samsung was looking at launching a new rugged version of its Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship, just as it launched the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active last year.
Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active actually offered slightly inferior specs to the Samsung Galaxy S4, but with a thicker water-proof body.
This latest video from TK Tech News shows that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active will be internally identical to the Samsung Galaxy S5.
According to the technical information provided by the footage, the tough new phone features a 1080p Super AMOLED display, a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel camera, and the Android 4.4.2 OS.
All just like the Galaxy S5, then.
This means that the only difference here is external, with a new metal-and-rubber case that should be capable of taking a few extra knocks.
Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active arguably had to up its game on the spec front. The original Samsung Galaxy S5 is already water and dust resistant, thus removing one of the main reasons to opt for a ruggedised version instead.
We’ll find out if the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active has any other tricks up its reinforced sleeve when it launches, hopefully some time later this year.
