Microsoft has teased that it has ‘something special’ up its sleeve for E3 2014, and that it will make a number of pre-E3 Xbox One announcements in order to make space for the big reveal.
With the annual LA-based gaming expo now less than a month away, Microsoft’s head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has teased the company’s upcoming plans, promising ‘some special things’ for the show.
However, in order to make time for this ‘special’ announcement, Spencer has confirmed that gamers can expect a number of pre-E3 announcements to emerge in order to lighten the load.
“There are a few things coming prior to E3,” the Xbox head said fielding questions on Twitter. “Show is getting set so easier to see what we want to talk about prior.”
Asked whether the pre-E3 announcements were being made in order to free up time during the company’s planned June 9 press conference, Spencer added: “Yea, wanted to make the show entertaining. Some special things I want to show so needed to do some things early.”
Last week Microsoft made a number of pre-E3 announcements, revealing that, contrary to its original plans, it will launch a Kinect-free Xbox One next month.
What’s more, the Xbox maker made a joint announcement with Halo developer 343 Industries, unveiling the next instalment to the much loved franchise, Halo 5: Guardians.
