The TomTom Runner Cardio GPS sportswatch is official and comes with an in-built heart rate monitor and GPS.
Similar to the recently announced Samsung Gear Fit and Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch, TomTom has equipped the Runner Cardio with an in-built heart rate monitor so you don’t have to wear a separate chest strap.
“Once again, TomTom is making innovative technology accessible to everyone,” said Corinne Vigreux, MD of TomTom consumer. “We know that heart rate monitoring is the single most accurate way to understand how the body is responding to exercise. Now, with the launch of Runner Cardio, all runners can easily user heart rate training to improve their performance.”
TomTom Runner Cardio Features
Measuring your heart rate through an in-built Mio optical sensor, the Runner Cardio monitors changes in your heart rate by shining light through your skin to see changes in blood flow.
You can set training goals by selecting one of five intensity zones, which will then the Runner Cardio send you notifications when you are going too fast or too slow.
The Runner Cardio features a display that consistently shows your heart rate, distance travelled, pace and other important fitness data in real-time as you train and available to check at a glance.
Like the previous TomTom Runner watch, you can activate the screen backlight with a tap and it still features the key GPS connectivity – something which is missing from a lot of the fitness trackers currently on the market.
