Samsung Galaxy S5 mini specs leaked

The Samsung Galaxy S5 mini specs have leaked ahead of an official announcement by Samsung.

Initial specs for the Galaxy S5 mini have been acquired by Sammobile insiders, with the device sporting the model number SM-G800.

This wouldn’t be the first time Samsung has launched a mid-range, miniaturised version of its annual flagship, as the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini and S4 mini already exist.

According to the report, the S5 mini will offer a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 720p HD resolution. This would be quite the upgrade to the 4.3-inch 540 x 960p qHD screen of the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.

It will offer Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box but feature the newest Samsung Touchwiq UI introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Although the sources claim it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 1.5GB of RAM, they were unable to verify which version this would be. Most likely it will be the quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU though. The S4 mini uses a Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz with an Adreno 305 GPU.

Camera specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera partnered with a front-facing 2-megapixel snapper. Internal storage will offer 16GB as standard, with microSD card support.

Like the Galaxy S5, it will most likely come with IP67 water and dust resistant certifications, but there’s no news as to whether it will feature the flagship’s fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor.

It will supposedly be powered by a 2,100mAh battery and come with an IR blaster and NFC connectivity.

The sources could shed any light on an approximate release date or pricing scheme for the Galaxy S5 mini, but previous rumours suggest it will be formally announced in June.
