Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1
Samsung has officially unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 series, which comprises of a 7-inch, 8-inch and 10.1-inch tablet.
The 2014 tablet range had been spotted passing through the FCC lately, so the announcement hardly comes as a surprise, but at least we now have the official specs.
Samsung has totally revamped the design for the Galaxy Tab 4 range, introducing the slimmer bezels, thinner body and squared edges of the Tab Pro models like the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 to the mid-range slates.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Features
Apart from a few minor differences, all three models of the Tab 4 range offer the same key specs. The 7-inch Galaxy Tab 7.0, 8-inch Galaxy Tab 8.0 and the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 10.1 have displays with a resolution of 1280 x 800p HD and run the latest Android 4.4 KitKat.
Of course, this is overlaid with the new Samsung Touchwiz UI that was introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S5, so you won’t get stock Android.
All three run on a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM and are available Wi-Fi only or with 3G/4G connectivity.
Camera-wise, there’s a 3-megapixel rear camera and a secondary 1.3-megapixel snapper for video calling.
The larger Tab 4 10.1 and Tab 4 8.0 have 16GB of internal storage as standard, with microSD card support up to 64GB. The smaller Tab 4 7.0 has an 8GB model as well as the 16GB, but microSD card support depends on which version you buy. The 4G model supports cards up to 64GB, whereas the 3G/Wi-Fi version only supports a maximum 32GB.
Due to its larger screen, the Tab 4 10.1 runs on a 6,800mAh, whereas the smaller sizes have a 4,450mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Release Date and Price
Although there is no precise release date or pricing for the Galaxy Tab 4 range, the tablets will be available in black or white from Q2 2014 across the world.
