Tado has unveiled the Tado 2.0, its next generation of smart thermostat that brings greater control to the actual unit.
The first Tado was an excellent example of a smart thermostat with a slick, intuitive UI. However, one criticism we had was its lack of direct controls, which meant that you could only control the temperature through your phone - even if you were right there in front of the device.
Thankfully, the Tado 2.0 addresses that criticism, with a discrete set of temperature controls.
The Tado 2.0 eschews the trend for defined LCD displays in favour of a simple LED set-up, with the temperature figure appearing to glow through the white plastic of the device. Again, this provides direct information to those left in the house without a controlling smartphone to hand.
Users can also now incorporate weather forecasts into the heating schedule. There's also Multi-zone which, like Honeywell's EvoHome, offers finer room by room control over your heating.
The heart of the Tado system, of course, is its ability to track where users are in relation to the house, and to adjust the heating accordingly.
The Tado 2.0 goes on sale in the UK over the coming weeks, and will cost £199. Alternatively, there'll be the option to rent the system for £4.99 per month.
