Apple has revealed that 90 per cent of users have made the upgrade to iOS 7 on their iPhone and iPad devices.
iOS 7 was made available in September 2013 and Apple has confirmed that 90 per cent of users are running the latest mobile operating system.
The announcement was made quietly as part of an update to the Apple developer page, which states the updated figure is correct as of July 13.
Apple revealed 87 per cent of users were on iOS 7 in April, so the adoption has grown at a rate of around 1 per cent a month.
This growth saw the iOS 6 share drop to 9 per cent from 11 per cent, with only 2 per cent running anything earlier than that.
These impressive figures, which show growth despite the incoming iOS 8 release, is in stark contrast to Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat adoption.
As of May 1, only 8.5 per cent of Android devices are running the latest Google mobile operating system.
iOS 8 will arrive sometime in the autumn bringing with it a number of improvements for Apple’s operating system.
Some of these include being able to use third-party keyboards, share your apps and other iTunes/pp Store content with up to six people in your family, and take advantage of the new iCloud Drive.
iCloud Drive stores all your documents and other content including music and images in the iCloud enabling you to access them from multiple devices.
In the spirit of multiple Apple devices, there will be much more connectivity between your iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite devices than ever before.
