Apparently it'll look like the Tab 4 10.1, but thinner
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S could be Samsung’s brand new QHD AMOLED tablet range that comes complete with a fingerprint sensor.
A brand new Samsung AMOLED tablet has been rumoured for some time now and it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S could be the official product name.
Despite Samsung having already launch seven new tablets since the start of 2014, including the business-centric Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, it looks like the Galaxy Tab S could be its most powerful tablet yet.
According to Sammobile sources, the Galaxy Tab S will come with AMOLED screen size options of 8.4- and 10.5-inches both with a resolution of WQXGA 2560 x 1600p QHD.
With those screen sizes and that stunning resolution, the 8.4-inch model would offer an image density of 359ppi and the 10.1-inch variant would pack a 288ppi image density.
These would both be better than the iPad Air and the high-resolution Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.
AMOLED screens would mean that the tablets should have a fairly decent battery life, thanks to the display technology’s low power consumption.
Apparently the Galaxy Tab S will feature the fingerprint sensor technology introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S5, embedded into the home button. This would mean all the fingerprint related features from the S5 would make their way onto the Tab S, including PayPal payments and fingerprint unlocking.
The latest leak suggest the Galaxy Tab S will feature an octa-core Exynos 5 quad-core CPU, which is made up of four 1.3GHz Cortex A7 cores and four 1.9GHz Cortex A15 cores.
In the rear will be an 8-megapixel camera sensor capable of full HD video recording, paired with a secondary 2.1-megapixel sensor up-front.
Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS and an IR blaster are all apparently included too, all held within a body not to dissimilar from the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 range. If you want 4G connectivity, there will be models available.
The Galaxy Tab S is expected to come in two colours, Shimmer White and Titanium Grey.
Running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, it’s not clear whether the tablet will feature the TouchWiz or new Magazine UX come launch.
