GTA Online coming today around 12pm BST

GTA Online will become available to download later today through a special Title Update released via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

Arriving around 12pm BST today, October 1, GTA Online will offer gamers the GTA 5 multiplayer experience, two weeks after the game was released.

“On October 1st there will be a small downloadable Title Update released on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. Upon installation of that Title Update, direct access to begin GTA Online will be unlocked in your GTAV game menu”, explains Rockstar Games. “You will be able to jump right into GTA Online via the 4th (bottom) slot in your GTAV character wheel.”

Although Rockstar Games expects that the update will become available from around 12pm BST today, October 1, access to GTA Online will be dependent on PSN and Xbox Live making the update available at the same time.

The GTA Online experience is set a few months prior to the events of the main GTA 5 single player storyline, accessible via the bottom slot of the character wheel.

“There’s plenty of havoc and treachery you can cause out in the open world of course, but in order to prevent some really annoying ‘griefing’, we’ve designed house party invitations specifically to be a friendly social affair where players can visit each other’s pads without fear of having them ruined or losing their hard-earned vehicles in the process.”

ROckstar Games has introduced cash cards that can be purchased using real-world currency to unlock additional in-game dollar for GTA Online, but the developer has put measures in place that will stop gamers buying their way to success.

“All players still have to rank up with Reputation Points (RP) in order to get access to purchase high-end items. No-one can begin GTA Online and simply spend a lot of money out of the gate to get a leg up. You will have to earn your stripes and play to unlock access to the aspirational clothes, gun and other items.”

The developer will be adding lots of jobs via the Social Club over time, but gamers will be able to create their own custom Race and Deathmatch Jobs using the Content Creator tool.
