Updated Call of Duty teaser site confirms ‘the Ghosts are real’

The Call of Duty: Ghosts teaser site launched by publisher Activision yesterday has been updated just hours ahead of the game’s expected unveiling, declaring simply ‘the Ghosts are real.”

All but confirming that Call of Duty: Ghosts will be the title of the 2013 addition to the much loved COD gaming franchise, the refreshed Call of Duty: Ghosts teaser site features the same ghostly face seen yesterday, with the new strapline etched into the image.

With Call of Duty: Ghosts widely expected to be formally unveiled later today through a video advert televised during the NBA basketball playoffs in the US, the latest update to the teaser site has hinted that such a release could be imminent, generating more buzz around the game ahead of its big reveal.

If that wasn’t enough, developer Treyarch has seemingly confirmed its long expected involvement in the game tweeting an image of a ghost face alongside the simple hashtag “#soon.”

Although tipped for a formal unveiling in the coming hours, a Call of Duty: Ghosts release date is not expected until much later in the year, with recently leaked advertising material pointing towards a November 5th arrival. Expected to hit both PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles, it is currently unclear if a Call of Duty: Ghosts PS4 release will be made available for the next-gen console’s arrival.

Spilling the beans ahead of the game’s formal unveiling, retailer Tesco last week confirmed the Call of Duty: Ghosts name, prematurely listing the title on its official website alongside an image of the final Call of Duty: Ghosts cover art.

Far from the only big gaming release of the year, Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts is set to go head-to-head with EA’s longstanding franchise rival Battlefield 4.
