Dead Island: Riptide steals UK All Format Gaming Chart top spot

The top spot on the UK All Format Gaming Chart this week has been taken by Dead Island: Riptide, with three other top ten positions also occupied by new entries.

Knocking down last week’s chart leader Injustice: Gods Among Us to second place, Deep Silver’s Dead Island: Riptide has entered the chart and soared straight to pole position.

The sequel to Dead Island, Dead Island: Riptide took the UK All Format Gaming Chart top spot despite having less than half the sales of the original game when it launched in week 36 2011.

Taking third place is another new entry this week, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. The game includes all the original content from the original game, but packs a host of new features and material.

Fairly average movie spin-off videogame Star Trek entered the chart at number four this week, with the Starship Enterprise crew landing a few weeks before the Star Trek into Darkness movie hits cinemas on May 17.

The fifth and sixth positions are both filled by former chart toppers, Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite, still selling strong and retaining their top ten status. Due to the aforementioned new entries though, Bioshock Infinite did tumble four places from second to sixth this week, having sat atop the UK All Format Gaming Chart for the three weeks after its release.

FIFA 13 continues to see strong sales figures, coming in at number seven.

The final new entry this week comes in at number eight, Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins. The Nintendo 3DS title is a prequel to the Nintendo Wii U title Lego City Undercover, released in the thirteen week of this year.

Filling the final two spots in the UK All Format Gaming Chart this week are Defiance and Luigi’s Mansion 2 in ninth and tenth place respectively.

The new entries into the top ten did force Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Far Cry 3 and Fire Emblem: Awakening down to eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth from their previous top ten positions.
