Splinter Cell: Blacklist coming to Wii U this summer

Building on the console’s currently limited list of premium titles, Nintendo has confirmed that Splinter Cell: Blacklist will land for the Wii U later this year.

Set to launch alongside the title’s already confirmed PS3 and Xbox 360 bound offerings, Nintendo and developer Ubisoft have confirmed that the Wii U iteration of the latest Splinter Cell offering will be made available for eager gamers this summer.

Landing ahead of the upcoming holiday season PS4 release date, the Splinter Cell: Blacklist launch will see the Tom Clancy branded title released in the UK on August 23. Preceding this, those looking to snap up the game on American soil will be able to capitalise on the earlier, August 20, US Splinter Cell: Blacklist release date.

"Showcasing enhanced gameplay features using the Wii U GamePad controller, Tom Clancy 's Splinter Cell Blacklist allows players to operate innovative gadgets, take out enemies and move through the environment, and intuitively switch between weapons, among other features,” Nintendo said of the upcoming release.

"The GamePad touch screen, along with motion-based inputs, are sure to immerse fans and gamers alike in this thrilling modern-day adventure."

Although the first official confirmation that the new Splinter Cell release would hit Nintendo’s flagship console, last year retailer GameStop leaked details of the upcoming launch.

The seventh instalment of the much loved Splinter Cell franchise, Blacklist will see lead character Sam Fisher once again lead the 4th Echelon military group on convert missions, this time coming up against a dozen strong team of terrorists know, as the game’s title suggests, as the Blacklist.
