LG has a host of display technologies to show off at CES 2015, with a new range of Art Slim TV panels to be showcased alongside Quantum Dot and 4K lines.

The super slim, lightweight concept displays are to be showcased at the Las Vegas-based show ahead of inclusion in production units later in the year.

With LG’s new Art Slim TV panels to be offered in 55-inch and 65-inch forms at launch, the compact LCD displays will line up at a mere 7.5mm and 8.2mm thick respectively.

These streamlined designs, alongside minimalist 10.4kg and 16.2kg weights, will make the Art Slim panels some of the slimmest and lightest on the market.

They are close to rivalling the LG’s own range of OLED panels in terms of compactness.

With further screen sizes expected to be introduced as 2015 progresses – including a 49-inch model – the LG Art Slim TV panels utilise a new production method.

Making use of a new aluminium composite, LG has turned the panel’s rear cover into the actual back of the television. The new materials offer improved rigidity to help protect the display.

Set to be demoed during CES 2015, the annual tech show is set to kick off next Monday, January 5, running until Friday, January 9.
