OnePlus One 16GB Silk White
OnePlus has announced it is fast-tracking production of the 64GB OnePlus One due to consumer demand.
Originally the company was prioritising the 16GB version of the phone, but consumers have shown strong demand for the 64GB model.
International availability was originally pegged for late June and while this is still on track, there will be a large batch of 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus One devices available in late May to early June.
The 16GB Silk White version will only go into production when it doesn’t cause delays to the more popular 64GB model.
The current production schedule now looks like this:
- Late May to early June – Larger batch of 64GB Sandstone Black
- Later in June – Increased general availability
“After seeing how popular the 64GB version was compared to the 16GB, we have pushed back the production of the 16GB Silk White in favour of getting the 64GB Sandstone Black out quicker,” said OnePlus’ head of International Relations, Carl Pei.
The popularity of the 64GB version is mainly down to its ultra-low price, despite its decent specs sheet. At £269, the 64GB model is considerably cheaper than the £339 32GB Google Nexus 5 and comes with twice as much storage for all your apps and other smartphone content.
The 16GB OnePlus One is only £229, but it seems people are willing to shell out the extra £40 for the additional 48GB, which is fair enough really.
The OnePlus One offers a 5.5-inch full 1080p HD display running on a 2.5GHZ quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM.
In the rear is a 13-megapixel camera, which is paired with a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper.
You’ll also get stereo speakers, 3100mAh battery and 4G LTE compatibility alongside the standard Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi.
