EA Games plans “major” Frostbite 3 game reveal for E3

EA Games has announced it plans to reveal a “major” Frostbite 3 game at E3 in June.

During the publisher’s financial results call, CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed a “major new game” powered by Frostbite 3 would be revealed next month.

Frostbite 3 is the gaming engine built by DICE and has already been used to power Battlefield 4.

EA Games said the “major” announcement is a game in development at a “flagship developer”, but didn’t add any more details.

Although it will be given a live E3 reveal on June 9 at the EA press conference, the game won’t be released until EA’s Q3 FY2015, which is some time in Q4 2014.

The game could well be Battlefield 5, but BioWare’s Aaryn Flynn confirmed Mass Effect 4 will be powered by Frostbite 3 as well, so perhaps that could be in line for an E3 launch.

Wilson also confirmed that EA Games plans to reveal six titles at E3, which will be released in 2015 and beyond.

However, if you were hoping for a brand new Need for Speed following your addition to Need for Speed: Rivals, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

“Ghost Games is working on an innovative new chapter of the franchise,” said Wilson during the call. But, EA has “planned an extended development window to ensure a high quality experience for NFS players next year.”

The next Need for Speed game will arrive before April 1, 2015 though.

“It was a transformative year for EA in a dynamic year for our industry, and I’m even more excited for the new experiences we will deliver in fiscal year 2015 and beyond,” added Wilson.

EA Games also confirmed during the investor’s call that 10 EA Games titles will be released between now and March 31, 2015 – or the end of the company’s financial year.

So far we know of: FIFA World Cup 2014, a new UFC game, FIFA 15, NHL 15, Madden NFL 15, NBA Live 15, Dragon Age: Inquisition and a new golf title.
