Cut the Rope coming to 3DS, confirms Activision

Cut the Rope

Om Nom sniffs out the candy on 3DS soon

Activision has confirmed that Cut the Rope will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS in the near future.

Om Nom will be making his way onto the 3DS and its siblings like the Nintendo 2DS, with a new title named Cut the Rope: Triple Treat.

Similar to the Angry Birds Trilogy available for 3DS, PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii among other platforms, the 3DS Cut the Rope title will combine three existing title into one package.

Cut the Rope: Triple Treat offers the original Cut the Rope, Cut the Rope: Experiments and Cut the Rope: Time Travel, but not the latest sequel Cut the Rope 2: Om Nom’s Unexpected Adventure.

“Cut the Rope: Triple Treat compiles three standalone adventures, bursting with over 650 levels for more than 50 hours of gameplay, as well as the precision control interface of the Nintendo 3DS stylus, online leaderboards, in-game achievements, stereoscopic 3D visuals during gameplay and cheerfully animated Om Nom stories”, reads the official blurb.

The announcement is a little odd, as the original Cut the Rope is already on the Nintendo eShop and is also offered as DSiWare.

It costs £4.49 on the Nintendo eShop, so surely it would be better to offer the title as a free or paid-for upgrade. Instead, those interested in playing more Cut the Rope on their 3DS will have to buy the first game again and more, for a higher cost.

Hopefully, Cut the Rope won’t get the full Angry Birds retail treatment, matching it price for price. Currently, you can buy the Angry Birds Trilogy for around £20 across all platforms, but it was originally given the full game RRP of £40.

There’s no word on a price or release date for Cut the Rope: Triple Treat as yet.
