Two versions of a 41-megapixel Nokia EOS smartphone are reportedly being tested by Nokia, according to a source “familiar with Nokia’s plans”.
Nokia is supposedly running test on two models of the highly-rumoured Nokia EOS smartphone, which will have the same specs but different processors: one a dual core and the other a quad-core handset with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU.
The rumours come courtesy of an unofficial blog dedicated to the Finnish smartphone manufacturer, MyNokiaBlog, who has said the dual-core variety is being prepped due to battery life issues with the quad-core version. The Nokia EOS is tipped to have the same 2,000mAh battery as the Nokia Lumia 920.
The 41-megapixel camera is tipped to be supported by an LED and powerful Xenon flash, but as of yet it doesn’t seem that the Nokia EOS will support 2K or 4K video recording. Nokia may look to add such functionality in the near future though, suggests the source.
The Nokia EOS may also pack a Nokia N86 imitating variable aperture lens and a more detailed camera user interface similar to that in the Nokia 808 PureView.

Aside from a 41-megapixel rear-facing camera, the Nokia EOS could feature an AMOLED screen with 1,280 x 768p resolution.
The camera centric smartphone should also have a microSD card slot for expandable internal storage options, a necessity for a camera packing so many megapixels. The Nokia EOS could also include an FM transmitter and potentially a Micro HDMI out port for connectivity to Smart TVs and other devices to display those stunning photographs.
Any details surrounding the GPU or any other specs are currently unknown, but the Nokia EOS is tipped to launch as an exclusive for American network provided AT&T to begin with, a global roll out should follow around one to three months later.
