Samsung Galaxy S5 specs leak ahead of claimed March launch

A range of Samsung Galaxy S5 specs have leaked online, with the phone’s innards tipped alongside a claimed March unveiling.

Adding to the current flurry of Samsung Galaxy S5 rumours, serial Samsung tipster SamMobile has cited insider sources in suggesting the eagerly awaited handset will be formally showcased during a London-based launch event in March.

As well as tipping the handset for a Q1 launch, the reports have claimed to reveal a range of Samsung Galaxy S5 specs, including the phone’s new quad-core processor, improved camera and move to Google’s latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

Offering up few surprises on what has already been mooted, the latest rumours have pegged the Samsung Galaxy S5 specs sheet to benefit from Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 805 processor alongside a 5.25-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with a stunning 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.

Most interestingly, it has been hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will come in both metal bodied and plastic clad forms, much in the same way that Apple recently launched both the premium iPhone 5S and more affordably packaged iPhone 5C.

While the Samsung Galaxy S5 will reportedly feature improved durability features such as those found on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active as standard, it has been claimed that smaller and camera-centric S5 spinoffs are again in the works.

“We were also able to confirm that Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S5 mini and Galaxy S5 Zoom sometime after the Galaxy S5, with an official unveiling taking place sometime in June and May respectively,” the latest reports have claimed.

As always, Samsung has yet to offer any official comment as to the validity of these claims and as such we recommend the rumours are taken with a pinch of salt.
