Details of the Samsung Galaxy S5 battery have emerged, with the upcoming phone’s power supply seemingly set to benefit from rapid charge technology.
Giving the iPhone 5S rival added staying power, the Samsung Galaxy S5 battery will reportedly be a 2900mAh Lithium-Ion offering, up on the 2600mAh power pack that featured in the phone’s predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The latest Samsung Galaxy S5 details, which have emerged courtesy of PhoneArena’s unnamed ‘tipsters’, have suggested that as well as having a larger capacity, the Samsung Galaxy S5 battery will be a new type of Lithium-Ion offering, one capable of generating 20 per cent more staying power from the same amount of juice.
What’s more, it is claimed the Samsung Galaxy S5 will boast rapid charge capabilities, meaning the drained power supply will be able to return to full juice in less than two hours.
Although a welcome addition, the rapid charge functions are far from new, having appeared on both the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 previously.
One of the most eagerly awaited devices of the year, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is widely expected to be unveiled in the coming months with Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat OS lining up alongside a speedier quad-core processor, a larger 5.2-inch 2K display and an all new form factor.
Earlier this week Samsung hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date will be held before the end of March.
Speaking on the flagship phone’s launch, the company told us: “We don’t know our exact timings yet. It will definitely be H1 and it is looking increasingly likely that it will be Q1.”
