Gran Turismo 6 to feature Goodwood Hillclimb course

With the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed in action, Sony has confirmed the infamous Goodwood Hillclimb course will feature in the upcoming Gran Turismo 6 game.

The first time that the Goodwood Hillclimb course will feature within a Gran Turismo title, the famous track’s inclusion is said to be down to the game’s creator, Kazunori Yamauchi being a fan of the event that has been put on by Lord March.

“I have always been a huge admirer of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and what Lord March has achieved,” Yamauchi said in making the announcement.

“Goodwood represents every type of motoring and motorsport, which very much mirrors what we aim to achieve with Gran Turismo and so it is very special that we have forged this partnership. There will be no better feedback than that provided by the Goodwood fans to tell me if we are heading in the right direction with Gran Turismo 6.”

With the Goodwood Festival of Speed featuring a selection of Gran Turismo 6 simulators dotted around, those attending are able to sample the upcoming game ahead of its autumn release date.

“I feel proud and honoured that the Festival of Speed has been chosen to showcase Gran Turismo 6 globally, as I cannot think of a more fitting gaming partner for this celebration of motor sport and car culture, especially in this, our 20th anniversary year,” Lord March, Festival of Speed founder, said.

While a Gran Turismo 6 release has been announced for the existing PS3 console, Yamauchi has stated that the game will not launch for the upcoming PS4 anytime soon.

As well as being the first Gran Turismo title to feature the Goodwood Hillclimb track, Gran Turismo 6 will also add Silverstone to the franchise for the first time.
