Google has extended an invite to members of the media to have breakfast with its new Head of Android Sundar Pichai next week, amid speculation a new version of the mobile OS is about to drop.
The event will take place at the company's Mountain View campus a week from today on July 24, with the search and mobile giant yet to offer any indication as to what will be discussed.
If we're going down the "2 plus 2 equals 5" route, it may be that Google is ready to lift the lid on the new version of Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and introduce some the features prior to the impending launch of the Moto X phone.
It is thought that the Moto X, the first major Motorola launch since it came under Google's control, will have Android 4.3 out of the box, bringing new voice control features like Open Mic, which will listen in for user's commands.
Google/Moto has yet to set a date for the unveiling, with recent reports suggesting an on-sale date of July 23rd. While it seems highly unlikely that Google will launch the Moto X at such an informal-sounding event without Motorola branding, the new Android 4.3 features may be up for discussion.
Beyond the Moto X, Google has a host of Nexus devices that would also benefit from the upgrade to Android 4.3, such as the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 devices as well as the 'Google Edition' of the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 handsets.
Another possibility is the introduction of a new Nexus 7 tablet, as has been rumoured in recent weeks.
It's also possible (and this is the boring "2 plus 2 equals 5" version of the story) that the breakfast will give Pichai, who recently took over from co-founder Andy Rubin as the Head of Android, the chance to chat with the media about his plans for the future of the OS.
