Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 teased

A developer at Sledgehammer Games has suggested next year could see a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 release land, mentioning the title as a work in progress on his CV.

With Call of Duty: Ghosts set to hit retailers later this year for current and next-generation consoles, Sledgehammer Games’ Senior VXF Artist Robert Valdivia has suggested publisher Activision will revert to a more established sub franchise in 2014, with the next COD offering to land in the form of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

Although the development studio has yet to confirm the nature of its next project, Valdivia, who joined Sledgehammer Games in April, has suggested last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 release will be superseded next year by the numerically superior Modern Warfare 4.

Teasing the title through his personal LinkedIn profile, Valdivia wrote: “I am a Senior VFX Artist from Los Angeles but currently residing in the San Francisco bay area. I work at Sledgehammer Games where I’m responsible for developing photo real visual effects for the next Call of Duty – Modern Warfare release.”

Having been spotted by VG247, all reference to a future Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 release has since been removed from Valdivia’s LinkedIn profile.

Officially announced in recent months, the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts release will see the globally dominant COD franchise take a break from flitting between the Modern Warfare and Black Ops sub series. Set to touch down for the Xbox 360 and PS3 this autumn, Activision has already revealed the game will be made available to early adopters of both the Xbox One and PS4 when the two future consoles go on sale ahead of the Christmas period.

Earlier this week the Executive Producer on Call of Duty: Ghosts, Mark Rubin, confirmed further details of the game’s multiplayer features would land next month.

“We are in our death march push to finish [Call of Duty: Ghosts]. Lots left to do. Looking forward to MP in August,” he said via Twitter.
