Huawei Ascend P6 launch teased by new video

Huawei has started to hype up the release of its new Huawei Ascend P6 smartphone ahead of its official launch on June 18.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming Huawei Ascend P6 launch this month on Facebook, along with an official comment from Huawei president Richard Yu.

“Delivering ground breaking new smartphones to our customers isn’t always easy. But we’ve done it again”, reads Huawei’s Facebook post. “Stay tuned and see what’s coming. Huawei make it possible.”

The teaser trailer doesn’t reveal the design of the ultra-slim Huawei Ascend P6, but, similar to the way Samsung dealt with the lead up to its Samsung Galaxy S4 reveal, has chosen to instead only show the metal box containing its upcoming smartphone.

However, Huawei President Richard Yu, posted a comment on the upcoming smartphone and how it feels to use, along with an official picture of the Huawei Ascend P6, even if it is just a portion of the device.

The Huawei Ascend P6 is heavily tipped to become the world’s thinnest smartphone, with dimensions of 132 x 65.5 x 6.18mm, a form factor that shaves a good millimetre off of the market leading iPhone 5 (7.6mm) and Samsung Galaxy S4 (7.9mm). However, Yu focuses on how the side buttons feel to the user.

“You know, after using the P6 more and more, I’ve begun to notice how nice the side keys were designed and good it felt to press them,” writes Yu. “Their positioning along the edge felt just right and natural. They aren’t protruding out too much so you don’t have to worry about the wrong button being pushed when it’s in your pocket, nor are they too flat that they’re uncomfortable to feel.”

Reportedly due to pack a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, the Huawei Ascend P6 could have a 4.7-inch HD display and a 5-megapixel camera.

“We were able to find that ‘sweet spot’,” added Yu.

Huawei is holding a London-based event on June 18 where it shall launch the Huawei Ascend P6 smartphone.
