Xbox One to receive new Halo game in 2014

A new Halo game will be coming to the Xbox One in 2014, but will not be a launch title for the next-generation console.

General Manager of 343 Industries, Bonnie Ross, took to the stage during the Microsoft Xbox One pre-E3 event to announced that the next Halo game will launch for the Xbox One in 2014.

Not launching as an Xbox One launch title, the next Halo game will be available in 2014 for the console, taking “full advantage” of the Xbox One specs, especially the cloud gaming features.

Halo for the Xbox One will run at 60fps on the next-generation console, utilising the PC architecture contained within. This is the first time a game in the Halo series will run at such a frame rate.

Unfortunately any further details on the game are still elusive as the game is obviously still in fairly early stages of development.

The Xbox One Halo announcement will calm fan fears that the series was moving to more alternative platforms, especially after the Halo live action TV series reveal and the Halo: Spartan Assault Windows app.

It’s unknown whether it’ll be called Halo 5 or not, but for now, quench your Halo thirst with the Xbox One trailer down below.

Microsoft also revealed Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, further Quantum Break details, Ryse: Son of Rome and other Xbox One games coming to the next-generation console within the first few months of its November release date.
