Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini supposedly delayed until July

Samsung has reportedly delayed the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini release date to sometime in July, moving the smartphone’s launch from week 21 to week 29.

With the Samsung Galaxy S4 release date just days away, rumour has it that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will not be launching until July, two months after its beefier brother.

According to the often reliable SamMobile blog, the reason for the delay is unknown, but it has caused the South Korean electronics manufacturer to push back the smartphone’s launch by eight weeks.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini rumours

Rumoured to launch in two varieties, one with a single SIM card slot and another offering a dual-SIM option, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will be available in the Black Mist and White Frost colour options of the Samsung Galaxy S4.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini could also play host to a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display with a 1.6GHz dual-core processor under the hood.

Running the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and Samsung’s TouchWiz Nature user interface, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini should support 4G LTE and have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity.

An 8-megapixel rear facing camera is also tipped to feature, potentially offering the new camera functionalities of the Samsung Galaxy S4 like the Dual Camera shooting mode, Eraser Shot and Drama Shot.

Last year, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini launched with the potential of offering the best features of the Samsung Galaxy S3, but with a smaller, lower-res screen and less powerful innards, but actually failed to delight. We only gave it a 6/10 in our review, due to its expensive price tag and poor quality screen and camera.

If the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini does launch in July, we hope it will offer a little more functionality than the Galaxy S3 Mini, and provide a mid-range, affordable alternative to the powerhouse Samsung Galaxy S4.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 release date is set for Friday, April 26 with the handset offered on a wide range of carriers.
