LoveFilm is now the exclusive host to fourteen pilots for Amazon Studios new TV series, which viewers are asked to rate and review before the episodes are made into full TV series.
Amazon Studios has created fourteen pilots for series it could take into full series productions, but is asking LoveFilm viewers to decide which ones.
LoveFilm is unsurprisingly being used as the host for these exclusive pilots, seeing as the film and TV series streaming service is also owned by Amazon.
The pilots are for eight comedy series and six designed especially for children. They star comedic actors such a Jeffrey Tambor and John Goodman, while the creator list includes the writers of Zombieland.
“For the past year, the Amazon Studios team has collaborated with some of the best actors and writers in Hollywood to produce top-quality shows,” said Amazon Found and CEO, Jeff Bezos. “We can’t wait to hear which shows customers will want to see in full series production later this year.”
Live now, the fourteen pilot episodes are available for free to everyone, including those who don’t subscribe to LoveFilm. Amazon asks any viewers to leave a review or rating and share their favourite episodes on Twitter or Facebook.
The episodes have already garnered a lot of interest, with Amazon claiming the pilots were eight out of ten of the most streamed episodes over the weekend on LoveFilm.
“Now we’ve handed the remote to our customers to hear what they think,” said Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios. “In just a few days the pilots have received thousands of helpful and sometimes hilarious reviews. Keep the feedback coming – and help us decide which pilots will be turned into full series.”
According to Amazon, 80 per cent of the pilots already have 4 or 5 star average reviews.
When asked how many pilots Amazon Studios would take to full production, Price was a little cautious.
“Seven would be a lot, but zero wouldn’t be enough. So somewhere between there,” he said.
The comedies are entitled Alpha House, Betas, Browsers, Dark Minions, Onion News Empire, Supanatural, Those Who Can’t and a TV series version of Zombieland. The children series are Annebots, Creative Galaxy, Positively Ozitively, Sara Solves It, Teeny Tiny Dogs and Tumbleleaf.
