The Withings Activité has captured the tech scene’s attention with its simplistic smart watch credentials and elegant styling, but the device still has one serious downfall – a lack of Android support.

That is all set to change in the coming weeks, however, with Withings CEO Cedric Hutchings telling TrustedReviews that Activité Android support will be officially introduced later this month.

Although iOS users are already able to control their Activité and newly launched Activité Pop devices directly through the Withings Health Mate application, the corresponding Android app has yet to be updated with support for the wrist-based activity tracker.

“We now have a pretty similar experience of Withings Health Mate on Android, and Activité support will be on the Android version of the app by the end of the month,” Hutchings said while discussing the platform at CES 2015.

He added: “Health Mate gives you coaching from all of your Withings devices, the Android Activité support is just a few weeks behind in terms of updates.

“We are already using it internally on Android.”

Unveiled earlier this month, the Withings Activité Pop is a stripped back, more affordable take on the company’s LG G Watch R and Moto 360 challenger.

Dropping the Activité’s leather strap, Sapphire glass display and Swiss watch movement in favour of rubber bands, a mineral glass front and Chinese innards, the Pop lines up at £119, a full £200 cheaper than its predecessor.

Despite its price reducing revamp, the device has retained all of the flagship model’s core functionality – fitness tracking, sleep monitoring and elegant looks.
