Bayan Audio has launched a new speaker in its Soundbook line-up – the Soundbook Go costs just £80, making it one of the cheaper mid-size Bluetooth speakers.
The Bayan Audio Soundbook Go is the third speaker in this series we’ve seen, following on from the original Soundbook and the larger Soundbook X3 .
It is by far the cheapest Bayan Audio Soundbook to date, selling for £80 from Amazon and Selfridges, as well as Dixons stores in airports.
Its driver array and design are quite similar to those of the original Soundbook, and the Soundbook Go has a protector flap that can flip around to function as a neat stand.
Small enough to hold in one hand, the Bayan Audio Soundbook is fairly portable, and has an internal battery that offers up to nine hours of playback off a charge.
For those really concerned with the unit’s portability – the Soundbook GO weighs 480g, and is 160mm wide, 40mm thick and 88mm tall.
It primarily uses Bluetooth to communicate with your phone/tablet, but it also has NFC for snappier pairing with compatible phones. Want to hook up an old-school iPod? There’s also a 3.5mm socket on the Soundbook Go for non-wireless sources.
You charge the thing up using a microUSB port, the same found on the majority of phones.
We criticised the original Soundbook for its somewhat-limited sound quality, but the driver array makes much more sense in a £80 speaker.
The Soundbook Go uses two 1-inch neodymium drivers, and a 2-inch passive radiator, which provides the bass often missing from smaller Bluetooth speakers.
There’s even an integrated mic, letting you use the SoundBook Go as a calling loudspeaker.
Factor in the competitive price and this could be the best Bayan Audio Soundbook yet. It goes on sale this week for £79.99, and comes in black, blue, white and red shades.
