Sony has officially unveiled the new Sony H400, a bridge camera ideal for photographers with big zoom needs thanks to its 63x optical zoom capabilities.
The world’s first 63x optical zoom compact camera, the Sony H400 has been unveiled alongside the high-end 50x zoom hosting Sony HX400V, a premium snapper that offers 4K stills shooting alongside a 20.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor.
“There are high-zoom cameras and there is the incredible Cyber-shot H400 with an incredible 63x optical zoom range – the highest ever in a compact digital camera,” Sony said in unveiling the new camera.
Sony H400 Features
Although the party-piece 63x optical zoom is undoubtedly the Sony H400’s headline feature, the camera is not a one-trick pony, with a 20.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD sensor sure to offer impressive imaging abilities.
While the H400 might not boast some of the high-end features of the HX400V, the new bridge offering sees 720p HD video recording capabilities line up alongside four picture effect modes and Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation.
With a 3-inch LCD display mounted on the camera’s rear to offer high-quality image playback, the Sony H400 features a footprint 129.6mm x 95.0mm x 122.3mm in size.
Sony H400 Release Date and Price
Although available to pre-order now, the Sony H400 release date will not be held until an undisclosed date in April. A Sony H400 price tag has been set at just £250.
