Nokia has posted a video on its website showcasing how well the Nokia Lumia 925 camera compares to the snappers within the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 rivals.
With an 8.7-megapixel Nokia PureView camera, the Nokia Lumia 925 will include Carl Zweiss optics and optical image stabilisation technology that makes sure it “outperforms leading smartphones in all kinds of lighting conditions.”
In the comparison video Nokia pits the aluminium smartphone against the 8-megapixel Samsung Galaxy S3 and 8-megapixel iSight iPhone 5 cameras in low-lighting conditions at New York theme park, Adventureland.
The video showcases Nokia Lumia 925 camera footage for around 50 seconds, before introducing the two rival smartphones. Side-by-side comparisons do reveal that the Nokia Lumia 925 does offer sharper image focus, less noise and greater colour saturation, which the Nokia video helpfully points out along the way.
Surprisingly, Nokia wasn’t quite brave enough to pair the Nokia Lumia 925 with the current Samsung flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S4, which packs a 13-megapixel camera and 2-megapixels up front.
The all-aluminium device was previously rumoured to be called the Nokia Catwalk, but it recently emerged that the Nokia Lumia 925 would be the name for the next Nokia smartphone.
Nokia Lumia 925 Features
The Nokia Lumia 925 features an aluminium body and is an upgrade to the existing Nokia Lumia 920 flagship.
Running Windows Phone 8, the smartphone should have a 4.5-inch OLED display with a 1280 x 768p resolution and be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
The Nokia Lumia 925 will be unveiled next week at a special launch event in London on May 14, where journalists are invited to discover how “the Nokia Lumia story continues.”
